| CLEAN A LITTLE EVERY DAY |
|
- put things away after you use them
- as you walk through the house get in the habit of picking up clutter and straightening things out (prop up the pillows on the sofa, put a magazine in a pile, put a used glass in the sink or dishwasher)
- empty the dishwasher as soon as it completes its cycle
- clean the kitchen pots right after you use them
- clear dishes from the table right after eating and put them in dishwasher or was by hand
- when making a trip from one room to another glance around to see if you should take anything with you to put away
- throw trash in the garbage, don't leave it on the counter
- sort through your mail each day and discard mail you don't need
- discard old newspapers, magazines, etc.

| SET AN AGENDA FOR WEEKLY CLEANING |
|
|
- keep your cleaning supplies in a bucket (cleaner, scrub brush, cleaning cloths, sponge, mildew remover, polish, etc)
- dust first
- sweep floors
- vacuum carpets
- straighten up the bathroom toilet area, counters, mirrors, shower, and bath
- empty trash cans a few times a week

| DO A QUICK CLEAN WHEN GUESTS ARE EXPECTED |

- scan the main rooms of your home or apartment where your guests will congregate
- straighten pillows
- clear tables of any unnecessary items
- throw out old mail, old newspapers, old magazines
- have clean dishes and glasses ready for serving
- prepare snacks ahead of time

- if you are overwhelemd see if others can help
- ask family members to take on more household responsibilities
- shift some work responsibilities to co-workers if you are able
- see if a friend can help you out with some things
- get advice from an expert when you need it
